Faithful and Consistent

"Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
And early in the morning he came again into the temple,
and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them."
John 8:1-2

Our Lord retired for the evening to the mount of Olives which is just outside the walls of the city on the east side.  This is the same mount to where He was taken up to heaven (Acts 1), and it is the same place to which He will someday return in glory and great power (Zechariah 14:3-4).

The Lord consistently taught as long as people were willing to hear, and so, early in the morning He arises and goes back to the temple to teach.  Many people express a desire to have physically walked with Christ, but the truth is, His discipline and consistency would have turned most of us off.  Today, we are a lazy and undisciplined generation.  We are carried about by every wind of doctrine.  We love our sleep, food, entertainment and social functions.  We change our minds on a whim and for the most part, we are very unreliable as a whole.  This type of behavior is not indicative of Christ's Spirit; it is a manifestation of the flesh.  Jesus was very consistent and disciplined in all that He did.  He did not fail people.  He did not forsake teaching others because He was tired.  In every situation of life we find Jesus doing exactly as we see Him do in this passage, faithfully and consistently living for the Father.

May God give everyone of us the grace to be consistent and disciplined day after day, and year after year until we get to glory.
